Due to continuous heavy rains in the hilly areas, rivers in the plain states of North India are overflowing near the danger mark, causing serious flood-like conditions in many low-lying areas.

Rain forecast in 19 states, warning of heavy rain in 9 states
According to the official bulletin of the Meteorological Department, there are strong chances of rain in 19 states and union territories of the country on Saturday. Of these, an alert of extremely heavy rain has been issued in 9 states. The scope of this warning includes hilly states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to plain states like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Weather patterns changed in Delhi-NCR
Monsoon remains quite active in the capital Delhi and surrounding NCR region. There is a continuous movement of dark clouds in the sky, due to which the weather is pleasant as well as increasing the chances of rain. According to the local forecast of the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain and drizzle is likely to continue in the coming days. However, after this, the intensity of rain may reduce on 25th and 26th August and people are expected to get some relief.
Yellow alert issued in 4 districts of Himachal Pradesh
Heavy rains continue in the hill state of Himachal Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow alert' of rain for four major districts of the state – Bilaspur, Chamba, Kangra and Mandi on Saturday. According to IMD, this series of continuous rains may continue in Himachal for the next few days. Due to this heavy rain in the mountains, many main roads and roads have been closed due to landslides.
Danger of heavy rain and flood in many districts of Uttar Pradesh
In Uttar Pradesh too, the Meteorological Department has issued a major warning of torrential rain. Especially in the districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, there is a possibility of widespread and very heavy rain. In view of the forecast of heavy rain at many places in the state, the water level of the rivers is being continuously monitored.
Meanwhile, regarding the serious flood situation in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma held an important meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in which the Central Government has expressed full assurance of providing all possible financial and relief assistance.
Torrential rain with thunderstorm in many parts of Bihar
The effect of monsoon is clearly visible in Bihar also. The Meteorological Department has issued orange and yellow alerts of heavy rain in many districts of the state. There is a possibility of very heavy rain in East Champaran, West Champaran, Araria and Kishanganj districts. Apart from this, rains with strong thunderstorms and lightning are expected to continue in many other parts of North-Eastern and Central Bihar.

Apart from Delhi, UP, Bihar and Himachal, caution is being taken regarding rain in many other parts of the country. Other states and regions for which the alert has been issued include East Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim.
