Here is information about changes in SIM card rules. The rules are becoming more stringent from August 24; Those who have completed their quota of SIM cards will not be able to purchase any more SIM cards. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India has started imposing strict restrictions on mobile connections. In most Indian states the maximum limit for purchasing a SIM card is nine, while in Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and the North-Eastern states the limit is six.

How many SIM cards are there in your name?

Before purchasing a new SIM card, you can check how many SIM cards are registered in your name or your family members' names. You can do this by using the government's 'Sanchar Sathi' portal.

Visit the homepage of Sanchar Sathi portal.
Scroll down on the homepage.
Click on the option “Know Mobile Connection in Your Name”.
Enter your 10 digit mobile number.
Enter the captcha code and then OTP.
Finally, click on the login option.
A new window will open in which the mobile numbers registered in your name will be visible. You can deactivate numbers you don't use or report any unknown numbers.

To report a number, click the checkbox next to the number you want to deactivate. After reporting, this process will take some time and after that the number will be deactivated.
