The war of words has once again reached its peak in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief and Union Minister Jayant Choudhary has strongly hit back at Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav's jibe that “Chavanni was converted into rupees, yet he left it.” Taking on the SP chief without taking his name, Jayant said that if he had to use cheap words in the political fight, he could have directly spoken by taking his name, but targeting the entire Jat community and making comments like 'teach them ABCD' is extremely irresponsible.
Jayant Choudhary said that he has seen this kind of arrogance very closely and history is witness that such arrogance ultimately leads to political downfall.
Full story of 'Chavanni to Rupee' joke
In fact, Akhilesh Yadav had recently said in a public program without taking name that 'we have converted Rs. In political circles, this statement was considered a direct reference to Jayant Choudhary. The reason behind this is the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, when SP and RLD contested the elections together. During that time, Jayant Choudhary himself had said from an election platform – 'I am someone who will turn back.' Now, based on the same old statement, Akhilesh Yadav had taunted Jayant, in response to which the RLD chief has now settled a sharp account.
New paths of old comrades and political mathematics of Western UP
The parties of Jayant Chaudhary and Akhilesh Yadav were once strong alliance partners, but after the change in political equations, RLD joined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). After the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, Jayant Chaudhary became a minister in the central government. Now this verbal confrontation between the two prominent leaders is coming to the fore before the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, due to which the stir in the politics of Western Uttar Pradesh has intensified. It is noteworthy that the Jat community is considered a very decisive and important political force in this region.
'Ego leads to downfall'
The most pointed part of Jayant Chaudhary's retort was 'Ego leads to downfall'. He not only took Akhilesh Yadav's statement as a personal taunt against him, but also lodged a strong objection to the comments made against the Jat community. This tough stance of Jayant has made it clear that now this dispute is no longer limited to the old jibe of 'Rs from Chavanni', but has turned into a fight between the two parties regarding the self-respect and dignity of political relations.
Now the biggest question floating in the political circles of UP is whether this verbal volley that started on 'Chavanni' taunt will stop here or will the round of attack and counter attack between the two leaders take a more violent form in the coming election environment. Akhilesh's once closest ally is now in the NDA, and Jayant's counterattack testifies that the warmth of the old relations has now completely dissipated.
