Usain Bolt could make a surprise return to competitive sport by playing football for Manchester-based Wythenshawe Vets FC, an over-35s team. The eight-time Olympic champion was listed among the club's registered players on the FA website. The team also features former stars including Emile Heskey, Antonio Valencia, Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater.
London: Legendary athlete and multi-time Olympic and World Champion Usain Bolt could be stepping in a football field, as he was shown as one of the registered players to play for Wythenshawe Vets FC, an over 35s team based in Manchester, England.
Bolt was seen among the registered players on the Football Association's website on Friday.
The club has attracted several high-profile players who want to pursue the sport after their professional retirement in recent years, such as England striker Emile Heskey, former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia and Premier League champions Joleon Lescott and Danny Drinkwater, among those set to play for the veteran's side this season, as per Olympics.com.
While team is yet to confirm Bolt as a player for this season, the move seems possible for the 40-year-old athlete and 100 m world record holder, who turned his attention to professional football after his retirement from athletics after the 2017 World Athletics Championships.
