Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2027, security arrangements for political leaders have been stepped up. As many as 52 leaders in the state have been provided bulletproof jackets, sources said. The list includes Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and BSP chief Mayawati.
Sources said each jacket costs around Rs 10 lakh. The jackets were issued in two phases. Eight leaders received them in the first phase, while 44 were covered in the second phase.
Ministers, BJP Leaders Among Those Given Security
There are eleven Uttar Pradesh ministers who will receive the bulletproof jackets. Ministers who will receive the jackets include Sanjay Nishad, Nand Gopal Gupta “Nandi” and Om Prakash Rajbhar. BJP leader Aparna Yadav will also receive the protective gear.
Security cover has also been extended to several other BJP leaders. These include Swatantra Dev Singh, Jaiveer Singh and Mahendra Singh, according to sources. Apart from the 52 leaders, around 98 other leaders and prominent individuals in Uttar Pradesh are expected to receive different categories of security.
BJP Steps Up 2027 Election Preparations
This is a huge security step ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls when all the political parties are preparing for the election. The BJP has appointed General Secretary Vinod Tawde as state in-charge, while Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel has been named as co-in-charge. The appointments are being seen as part of the BJP’s wider election strategy. The party is focusing on social and caste equations across the state.
Surveys Underway Across UP Constituencies
This initiative aims to assess the party’s organisational strength and identify potential candidates, as this survey seeks feedback on local issues and voter sentiments. The data received from this survey would help the BJP understand the people’s mood, which will help the party to decide candidates and shape the campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
