Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met the Bharatiya Janata Party's newly appointed national office-bearers at the party headquarters in New Delhi, stressing the importance of fresh ideas and perspectives to strengthen the organization and deepen its connect with people.
Sharing photographs from the meeting on X, Modi said organizational meetings provide an opportunity for “new ideas and perspectives” aimed at strengthening the party and enhancing its engagement with the public.
“Great interaction with fellow Party colleagues and the new organizational team!” he said.
BJP president Nitin Nabin welcomed the Prime Minister at the party headquarters, where Modi also posed for a group photograph with the newly appointed office-bearers.
The meeting was Modi's first interaction with Nabin's newly constituted national team since its announcement earlier this week. The 65-member team has 51 new faces, with leaders from several states given key organizational responsibilities.
The interaction comes as the BJP steps up preparations for organizational activities, public outreach programs and upcoming Assembly elections, with a particular focus on engaging young people.
Earlier on Saturday, Nabin held a meeting with the new office-bearers and emphasized the importance of “Yuva Samvad”, or sustained dialogue with the youth. The party is planning outreach programs for people aged 14 years and above and is putting together dedicated teams comprising senior leaders from different states.
The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has been assigned the task of helping constitute the teams and coordinate their mobilization. Former national office-bearers are also expected to receive responsibilities in the campaign.
The BJP is simultaneously working to strengthen its grassroots network and organizational preparedness ahead of upcoming Assembly elections.
Nabin is scheduled to chair another review meeting at the BJP headquarters extension on Sunday with State BJP presidents, organizational general secretaries and State in-charges. The meeting is expected to assess preparations for elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, besides reviewing upcoming party programs and broader organizational matters.
Modi's interaction with the new team also followed the BJP's adoption of a resolution on Vande Mataram earlier on Saturday. The resolution defended the national song's historical legacy and honor and criticized the Congress Working Committee's decision to follow its 1937 resolution restricting the singing of Vande Mataram at party programs to its first two stanzas.
The BJP said it would oppose attempts to subordinate Vande Mataram to “communal pressure, political appeasement, or narrow vote-bank considerations” and announced a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about the history and significance of the national song.
