A migrant worker has been arrested in Kannur's Madayippara for attacking a college student. The girl was walking and talking on her phone when the man tried to misbehave with her.
KANNUR: A shocking incident has been reported from Madayippara in Kannur, where a female college student was allegedly attacked by a migrant worker while she was returning home after an Onam celebration at her college. The Pazhayangadi police have arrested Kiran Singu, a native of Odisha, in connection with the incident.
The incident reportedly took place on Thursday evening. According to reports, the student was walking through Madayippara after attending the college’s Onam celebrations when the accused allegedly followed her. He reportedly attempted to attack her when she reached a secluded area.

At the time of the incident, the student was speaking to someone over the phone. She reportedly realised that she was being followed and raised an alarm when the man allegedly tried to attack her. Her screams for help alerted her classmates, who were nearby.

The classmates immediately rushed towards the spot and intervened, helping the student escape from the situation. They also informed the police about the incident.
Following the complaint, Pazhayangadi police reached the location and took Kiran Singu into custody. He was subsequently arrested in connection with the alleged attack. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident and are examining the circumstances surrounding the student’s complaint.
