Aston Villa are preparing to target another Chelsea player as the transfer window continues to take shape.

Villa are making a move for Tosin Adarabioyo as a replacement for Ezri Konsa, who is heading to Arsenal.

It has been a difficult summer for Villa supporters, with the club selling players such as Morgan Rogers, Youri Tielemans and Lucas Digne, while Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins also appear likely to leave, along with Konsa.

Rogers, in particular, represented a record sale from Aston Villa to Chelsea – and there could yet be plenty more business between the two clubs.

Villa have already confirmed the loan arrival of Alejandro Garnacho and, with Konsa now on his way to Arsenal, the Europa League winners have identified another Chelsea player in Tosin as the man to replace him.

That is according to Sky Sports, while The Sun reports that Benfica have also submitted an offer, with former Fulham manager Marco Silva keen to reunite with his old Whites centre-back.

There may yet be further dealings between Chelsea and Villa, with Nicolas Jackson also said to be under consideration. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Midlands club have been pursuing the Senegal international for the past 12 months.

Jackson previously worked with manager Unai Emery at Villarreal and could become one of three former Chelsea players to make the move to Birmingham this summer, as ties between Chelsea and Villa continue to strengthen.

With both clubs having needed to conduct inventive transfer business in recent years to comply with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), players such as Ian Maatsen, Jadon Sancho and Axel Disasi have all been brought in by Emery.

Chelsea would also be able to record any sale of Tosin as “pure profit”, given that he originally joined the club on a free transfer.

The former England youth international started out at Manchester City before completing a Deadline Day move to Craven Cottage during the 2020 lockdown, followed by a switch across west London from SW6 four years later to become one of Enzo Maresca's first signings.

Tosin became a regular during his first season at Stamford Bridge, making 41 appearances in all competitions, but found minutes harder to come by last term. That situation is likely to worsen if he remains at the club following the arrival of Maxence Lacroix in the same position.

FourFourTwo understands that Villa have sold Konsa for £51 million plus add-ons, meaning the club have made a profit of well over £200m this summer after winning a European trophy and confirming their place in this season's Champions League.

According to Transfermarkt, Tosin is valued at €16m. Villa begin their season with a trip to Sussex on Sunday, when they face Brighton & Hove Albion as the Premier League campaign gets under way.
