A big step has been taken towards easy movement of passengers in the capital Delhi and NCR. In the Delhi portion of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the remaining stretch of about 9 km from DND Maharani Bagh to Jaitpur Pushta Road has been opened for traffic on a trial basis. The opening of this new section is expected to benefit lakhs of drivers traveling daily between Delhi, Faridabad and Noida. With the commencement of this route, the vehicular pressure on major roads will be reduced and passengers can get relief from traffic jams. The opening of the new route will provide an additional connectivity to motorists traveling from Delhi to Faridabad and Noida. This is expected to save time for people traveling between these areas daily and improve the traffic system.
Traffic and safety standards are being checked on 9 km section
According to NHAI Project Director Dheeraj Singh, the pressure and safety standards of vehicles are currently being tested on the 9 km long stretch from DND Maharani Bagh to Jaitpur Pushta Road. During the trial, it is being seen how the traffic is being operated on the new route and whether all the necessary arrangements for the safety of the drivers are meeting the standards or not. With the opening of this route, people commuting towards Ashram, Kalindi Kunj, Sarai Kale Khan and Faridabad are expected to get relief. They will now get the option to avoid heavy traffic jams at Sarita Vihar, Mohan Estate and Mathura Road to a great extent.
To improve the traffic system in Delhi-NCR and reduce jam and pollution, work is going on rapidly to connect the expressway network with Noida International Airport (Jewar). In this series, 32 km long Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway is being constructed connecting Faridabad to Jewar Airport. At present, it takes about one and a quarter to one and a half hour to reach Jewar Airport from Faridabad via Mohana Bridge. After the construction of the new expressway, it is expected to take only 25 minutes to cover this distance. The existing master plan of the city is being kept in mind in the construction of the expressway. About 8 km long stretch is being made elevated from Sector-65 side of Faridabad. This will help in maintaining smooth traffic along with reducing the impact on the existing structure and development plans of the city.
Target to complete first phase by September 2026
Preparations are on to complete the construction of the 32 km long Faridabad-Jewar Greenfield Expressway connecting Faridabad to Noida International Airport (Jewar) within the stipulated time. The project is targeted to be completed in two phases.
By September 2026: A target has been set to complete the construction work from UP border i.e. Jewar Airport to Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Haryana.
By January 2027: After this, a deadline has been set to complete the construction work from Eastern Peripheral Expressway to Sector-65 of Faridabad.
