August 2026 has come and for some reason or the other this matter is still being discussed. There was a lot of controversy after Deepika's exit from the Pan-India film. The filmmaker made allegations on social media and a debate broke out in the industry regarding the working hours of actors. This controversy once again came to the fore this week when filmmaker's brother Prannoy claimed that one of the reasons for Deepika leaving the film was her demand for profit share. Now a source very close to the incident has revealed another story about Deepika not doing the film.

A source to the incident said, “Deepika Padukone has met Sandeep Reddy Vanga only once in her life. Not only this, the filmmaker had arrived late for this meeting by an hour! Deepika completed the rest of the meeting in a professional manner. In this meeting, only one line was told about the film. The entire story of the film was not told to her. Deepika never commits to any project without getting the narration of the entire story. Hence 'Spirit' begins. Was not involved in Deepika's thoughts since then.”

The source further said that Deepika is not interested in working with the filmmaker. The source said, “Sandeep Reddy Vanga is a filmmaker with whom Deepika Padukone will never work, because his attitude towards women is male. Deepika Padukone was in talks with Sandeep Reddy Vanga for Prabhas starrer 'Spirit' last year. But in April, news came out that Deepika had left the project. According to reports, after becoming a new mother, the actress had demanded a fixed 8 hours of work daily, which was not accepted by the film's production team. The makers of 'Kalki 2898 AD' had also informed about Deepika's exit from the sequel through a post, after which an online debate broke out regarding professionalism, limit of working hours and fees of actors in big budget films.

When news came out that Deepika would be replaced by Trupti Dimri in the film, it was claimed that Deepika was not comfortable with some intimate scenes and that is why she left the film. Meanwhile, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared an angry post on Twitter pointing towards Deepika. In May 2025, she wrote, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I trust him 100%. We have an unspoken NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this you 'DISCLOSED' the person you are…. Letting a young actor down and excluding him from my story? Is this what your feminism says?”

The controversy once again escalated this week when Sandeep's brother Prannoy claimed that one of the reasons for Deepika leaving 'Spirit' was her demand for 10 percent profit share in the film. Speaking to NTV Telugu, Prannoy Reddy Vanga said, “The reason is the same as mentioned earlier. One was remuneration and the other was timing. Apart from this, there are some other reasons too. Soon after that, everything went too far. Look, she can ask for anything. If we are ready to give, we can give. But the equation should work for us too. We felt that it was not working for us. On Friday, Deepika liked a post on Instagram in which Sandeep and Pranay's attitude was questioned. In this post, while praising the actress, it was said that she asked for what male actors usually get in the industry.

After this, Trupti Dimri was cast as the female lead of the film along with Prabhas. The first look of both was released on New Year's Day 2026. Vivek Oberoi will also be seen in the lead role in the film and the film is scheduled to release on March 5, 2027. Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone currently has two projects. She will be seen again with Shahrukh Khan in 'King' to be released in December. After this she will be seen in Atlee's 'Raaka' with Allu Arjun, which will be released next year.
