Sanjay Leela Bhansali is expected to begin work on the much-awaited Madhubala biopic in September, soon after completing his ongoing film Love & War. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in key roles.
Bhansali is currently finishing the final schedule of Love & Warwith the last song reportedly set to be shot at Royal Palms in Goregaon by the end of August. Once the shoot wraps, the same location is expected to be redesigned for the Madhubala biopic.
According to reports, the production design team will begin transforming the location as soon as the Love & War schedule is completed. The biopic is expected to go on floors in September, with Sara Arjun playing the lead role.
The film will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen, who previously directed Darlings. The project had earlier faced delays and was reportedly put on hold due to financial issues. It later moved forward after Bhansali joined the film as a producer.
Sara has also started preparing for the role of the legendary actress. The team is reportedly working on capturing Madhubala's personality, mannerisms and the era in which she lived and worked.
Sara recently gained wider attention with the Dhurandhar franchise, where she played Yalina Jamali, the love interest of Ranveer Singh’s character.
With Love & War nearing completion, Bhansali’s attention will soon shift to the Madhubala biopic, which aims to bring the life and legacy of one of Hindi cinema’s most remembered stars to the big screen.
