Aston Villa have reportedly struck a deal to bring in free agent Leon Goretzka during the summer transfer window.
The midfielder has been without a club since departing Bayern Munich at the end of last season after his contract ran out.
The 31-year-old spent eight years with Bayern, winning the UEFA Champions League in 2020, along with seven Bundesliga titles and three German Cups.
Villa are in urgent need of a midfield addition after selling Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans to Chelsea and Manchester United respectively, while new arrivals Johan Manambi and Joao Gomes are both currently sidelined through injury.
According to Matteo Moretto, Goretzka is “very close” to completing a move to Villa after reaching a “full agreement” with the Midlands club.
The Italian journalist added that the Germany international “feels very drawn to the project” at Villa Park. He is expected to undergo a medical and sign his contract this week.
