A Cameroonian-flagged cargo ship was attacked by pirates off the coast of Somalia's Puntland. They kidnapped 10 sailors including six Indians. The Somali administration said that the pirates had taken the ship carrying Turkish weapons to the coast of Nugal. The abductees are still missing.
According to Associated Press reports, on Monday, a group of pirates surrounded a commercial ship called 'Lutuf', about three and a half nautical miles off the coast of Marraya in Ile District, Puntland. This infamous group of eight members was involved in the hijacking of another commercial ship named 'Sword' on April 26. The vessel was last reported to have been towed to the coast near Garmal in Dangoroyo District, Puntland.
Somali administration sources said the ship was carrying weapons, communications equipment, such as satellite phones, for a Turkish military training center in Mogadishu. This cargo ship named 'Lutuf' is owned by 'Polar Movement Shipping'. Apart from 6 Indian sailors, the ship had a Turkish national, a Georgian and two Serbian security guards. So far, Somalia, Türkiye, Cameroon or India, no country has spoken about the pirate attack on the ship.
