The X1 now gets not one but two LWB models which means the electric version which was earlier exclusively available with this body style now has a petrol version too. So, which one is better? Let's compare them and see.
Space And Features Remain Similar
The X1 LWB and the iX1 LWB have a length of 4616mm while having a wheelbase of 2800mm. Space inside is massive in both while in the electric version you sit a bit knees up but comfort is huge with both. Features are high for a BMW but it does miss out on massage seats while getting a clear camera, full length glass roof, digital key and more.

iX1 Offers More Power And 531 Km Range
The difference is with the driving experience. The iX1 has a 531 km range figure with a single charge while it comes with a 66.4 kWh battery pack. You can expect around 400km in the real world. Power is around 204bhp and 250Nm.
Petrol X1 Trades Performance For Convenience
The petrol X1 LWB is slower. The petrol engine is a 1.5l turbo petrol with 156 bhp and 230Nm with a 7 speed dual clutch gearbox. In power terms the petrol version is slower than the electric of course but unlike the EV, there is no range anxiety while efficiency is around 15.5 kmpl.

Petrol Version Is More Affordable
The iX1 LWB is Rs 52.4 lakh while the petrol version is just below Rs 50 lakh at Rs 49.9 lakh. The petrol version is more affordable and for those who do long journeys which means they need the convenience of a petrol version.
Which X1 LWB Should You Buy?
The electric version makes more sense as more for city usage with being low in cost of running it and more performance. Hence, the petrol is the one to get if you do highway journeys and charging is an issue else the electric version makes more sense.
