Actually, the postal department has increased the prices of its parcel and spud post services. In such a situation, those who were preparing to send gifts to their brother or sister through post on the festival, will now have to loosen their pockets more than before.
How much will it cost to send a parcel?
According to the rules of the Postal Department, the total cost of sending a parcel is decided on its weight, size, distance and type of service. After the new changes, there has been a direct increase of Rs 30 to Rs 40 on parcels up to 500 grams. Whereas earlier it used to cost only Rs 42 for a parcel of this weight, now you will have to pay Rs 77 to Rs 84. In this, there will be a charge of Rs 77 for sending within your state and Rs 84 for sending to another state. Keep in mind that on top of this fixed fee, you will also have to pay GST separately.
Speed post also became expensive
Along with parcel, now the postal department has also increased the rates of Speed Post. Earlier, for light speed post up to 20 grams, Rs 42 was charged, which has now been directly increased by Rs 14. That means now you will have to spend at least Rs 56. Apart from this, as the weight and distance of the parcel increases, its charges will also increase.
