Bengaluru: A 30-year-old medical store owner was hacked to death by a group of assailants near the Madiwala underpass in Bengaluru on Saturday night, August 22, with police suspecting that the attack may have been carried out as part of a revenge plot.

The deceased, identified as Suhail from Mangammanapalya, was travelling towards Koramangala from Madiwala around 10 pm when four men allegedly arrived on two motorcycles and attacked him with swords.

Attackers leave weapons at scene and escape

The incident occurred amid traffic and was witnessed by several people. Suhail suffered serious injuries and died at the spot due to excessive blood loss. The attackers reportedly escaped after carrying out the assault, leaving the weapons at the scene.

Police are investigating a possible connection between the murder and the killing of Shabbir in Bandepalya on January 13. Suhail’s brothers Kaleem, Nazir and another sibling were allegedly involved in the earlier case. Investigators suspect that the assailants may have targeted Suhail to settle scores with his family.

The deceased has no criminal record

Police, however, said Suhail had no criminal record and was not an accused in the Shabbir murder case. The possibility that he was killed because of his brothers’ alleged involvement is being examined.

Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sujitha, Central Crime Branch DCP Haribabu and Joint Commissioner of Police Ramesh Banoth, visited the spot and reviewed the investigation.

Three special police teams have been formed to trace the accused. Investigators have collected closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings and digital video recorders (DVRs) from establishments around the crime scene and are analysing the footage to identify the attackers and reconstruct their movements.

Police are also examining Suhail’s movements before the incident. His medical shop is located in Bommanahalli, but he had travelled towards Madiwala shortly before the attack. Investigators are checking why he was in the area and who had contacted him before the murder.

Call detail records and other technical evidence are being analysed to establish whether the killing was pre-planned and to determine the exact motive. Police said efforts to identify and arrest the suspects were continuing. Police launched search to nab cluprits.
