Hyderabad: An interstate criminal was arrested at Sadana Mandir in Bollaram, and two 9mm pistols, one double-barreled pistol, three magazines and 19 live rounds were seized from him, police said on Saturday, August 22.
The accused has been identified as 27-year-old labourer Parbhans Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh. He was allegedly trying to sell firearms to criminals in Hyderabad, The Hindu reported.
Kumar is reportedly a class five dropout and worked as an agricultural labourer and lorry cleaner in the past. In 2021, he became addicted to marijuana and turned to drug peddling to make extra money.
He was arrested by the Cherlapally Police in 2024 in a Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) case. He eventually left the area and moved to Bihar Basti in Patancheru to work as a daily-wage labourer.
He later picked up the firearm trade. On August 10, Kumar travelled to Bihar and procured the firearms from a person named Sonu.
A case has been registered at Bollaram Police Station.
