A tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon in Jasola village of Sarita Vihar police station area of south-east Delhi. While robbing a kite here, a 15 year old teenager fell into the drain and went missing. There was panic in the area after the accident. The teenager has been identified as Mithun. It is being told that while robbing a kite, he reached near a drain and suddenly fell into it. As soon as information about the incident was received, police and rescue team reached the spot and started searching for the teenager. Mithun's father is an auto driver by profession. His family lives in a rented house in Jasola village. After receiving the news of the accident, the family is in bad condition and crying.
Teenager fell into drain while running after a cut kite
According to the local people, on Saturday afternoon Mithun was running after the cut kite to catch it, when suddenly he lost his balance and fell into the drain. Due to accumulation of huge amount of silt and garbage in the drain, relief and rescue operations are also facing difficulties. As soon as information about the incident was received, teams of police, MCD and fire department reached the spot. With the help of local people, teams searched for the teenager till late night, but due to silt and darkness, no trace of him could be found. The rescue operation was stopped at night. After this, the search for the teenager was started again on Sunday morning. The rescue team is searching for him in different parts of the drain.
Problems in search and rescue
It is being told that the treated water coming out of Jasola Sewage Plant goes to Agra Canal through this drain. A part of the drain is underground near Cribs Hospital, due to which the rescue teams are facing a lot of trouble in searching for the teenager. Due to dense population and houses on both sides of the drain, it is not possible to reach heavy machines like bulldozers to the spot. In such a situation, the rescue team has to conduct a search operation inside the drain with limited resources.
Youth dies due to drowning in Yamuna
A 40-year-old youth, who had gone to take bath with friends in the Yamuna river located in Hiranaki village of Alipur in outer Delhi, died due to drowning in deep water. The deceased has been identified as Raman Mukhiya. According to the police, information about drowning of a person was received in Yamuna at around 3:14 pm on Friday afternoon. The people present at the spot raised an alarm when the young man drowned. Hearing the sound, local fisherman Chandra Shekhar reached the spot with a boat and after much effort pulled Raman out of the water. After this the young man was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Police have registered a case in the matter and started investigation.
