Veteran actress and mimicry artist Aasha Singh Jaiswal died in Mumbai on August 22, her son Akkash Bharadwaj confirmed on social media. She was known for her work as an actor, social worker and voice artist and was particularly recognised for mimicking the voice of legendary actress Meena Kumari. Her son described her as a hardworking “Iron Lady” and asked people to remember her through her work.

Sharing the news, Akkash remembered his mother as a woman whose work remained central to her life. He appealed to people to pray for her soul and, importantly, to continue watching her work on social media.

In his tribute, he wrote that she was a “Karmath Loh-Mahila”, an “Iron Lady” and said her message was not to mourn death but to view it as a passage towards spiritual bliss. For Aasha, her son suggested, work was more than a profession. It was a defining part of her identity.

Aasha Singh Jaiswal worked across acting, mimicry and social work. According to details shared by her family and reported by NDTV, she was regarded as India’s first female mimicry artist and became known for recreating Meena Kumari’s distinctive voice. Her final rites were scheduled for August 23 at 10 am at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle West, Mumbai, according to the details shared by her son.
