Bihar News: Once again a big conflict is being seen in the government health department of Bihar. Government doctors across the state have openly protested against the decisions and functioning of the government. Angered by the stopping of doctors' salaries on the basis of biometric attendance in many districts and the increasing incidents of assault with doctors in hospitals, doctors have now decided to fight all out. In a joint meeting held on Sunday at the IMA Hall in the capital Patna, the doctors clearly declared that if the government did not resolve their problems within the next three days, a major statewide agitation would be launched.

Common platform formed in joint meeting

Top officials and representatives of Bihar Health Services Association, Dentists Association, Ayush Doctors Services Association and Native Medical Services Association participated in this important meeting. All organizations in one voice expressed deep concern over the problems of doctors. All the representatives present on the stage said that without knowing the ground reality and without arranging necessary technical resources, unilateral action is being taken against the doctors, which will not be tolerated anymore.

Strong protest against the action of withholding salaries

During the meeting, maximum anger was seen on the matter of withholding the salaries of doctors in the name of biometric attendance in various districts of the state. The salaries of doctors have been banned in districts like Araria, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Gopalganj and Bhojpur. Doctors say that sometimes biometrics are not recorded due to technical glitches, lack of network or machine malfunction in remote areas. Despite this, directly stopping the salary is completely unjust. The doctors have demanded that the withheld salaries should be paid immediately and such arbitrary action should be completely stopped in future.

Deep concern over security and violence in hospitals

The second biggest and serious issue of the meeting was the safety of doctors and health workers in hospitals. Union officials said that misbehavior, threats and violent attacks are taking place on doctors every day in different government hospitals of the state. Even when doctors are busy saving the lives of patients amidst heavy work pressure and limited resources, they still fear for their lives. The union has demanded from the government that strong security forces should be deployed in all health centers and big hospitals with immediate effect. Also, to prevent such unpleasant incidents and take immediate action against the culprits, direct accountability of the concerned local police station and administrative officers should be fixed.

Deep anger over Bettiah incident

While giving information to the media, Sangh spokesperson Dr. Vinay Kumar said that in the meeting, the horrific incident that took place recently at the Additional Primary Health Center in Bhairavganj, Bettiah was strongly condemned. Dr. Diwakar Pandey, posted there, was fatally attacked while on duty on August 21 and he was attacked with a hammer. Doctors say that if doctors are not safe at work in broad daylight, then how will they be able to treat patients. The union has demanded immediate arrest of all the culprits in this case and strict legal action against them.

Three days ultimatum to the government

Medical organizations have jointly given a clear message to the state government that the patience of doctors should not be tested. If the salary problems to biometrics are not resolved within three days and concrete security arrangements are not made in the hospitals, then the doctors will be forced to take to the streets. This tough stance of the doctors has created a stir in the health department, because if the movement starts, the government health system of the state can completely collapse.
