Important achievement of DMRC : Becomes first metro in country to get ISO 55001:2024 certification

Significant achievement for DMRC : Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has achieved an important milestone in asset management. DMRC has been awarded the prestigious ISO 55001:2024 certification for the asset management system of Mumbai Metro Line 3. With this achievement, DMRC has become the first metro organization in India to be certified to this latest international standard for asset management.

According to DMRC, this achievement represents not only certification, but significant progress in managing metro assets by DMRC, moving beyond preventive maintenance, towards strategic, risk-based and life-cycle-based asset management.

The ISO 55001:2024 standard is not limited to maintenance

The ISO 55001:2024 standard is not limited to maintenance; It links asset performance, risk, cost and its entire lifecycle to the organization’s goals. According to DMRC, this achievement represents significant progress in moving beyond maintenance-based care to strategic, risk-based and life-cycle-based asset management. This ensures improved asset reliability and better resource utilization.

Received the certificate in record time

DMRC has said that it has received this certificate in record time. Special attention was paid to strengthening the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), aligning asset management objectives with organizational priorities, strengthening risk assessment and lifecycle controls, and capacity building of officers and employees. The asset management system is continuously monitored through KPIs, audits and management reviews.

Operating and maintenance responsibility

DMRC is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the 33.5 km long corridor of Mumbai Metro Line 3 connecting Colaba, Bandra and SEEPZ. This includes the safe and efficient operation of many critical assets including rolling stock, traction, signalling, telecommunications, stations, elevators, escalators, tracks and civil infrastructure.

With ISO 55001:2024 certification, DMRC has further aligned its core objectives of safety, reliability, efficiency and sustainability with a globally recognized asset management system. This achievement sets a new benchmark for scientific, structured and lifecycle-based asset management in India’s urban rail sector. It also showcases DMRC’s ability to provide world-class metro O&M and asset management expertise in various cities across the country.
