Hyderabad: The Telangana Police’s EAGLE Force has stepped up its anti-drug awareness drive among school students and National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets, as part of a broader push to build a drug-free state.
An awareness team, along with an LED vehicle fitted for the campaign, held sessions at Government High School, Umdabad, and the boys’ and girls’ government high schools at Falaknuma.
Students were sensitised to the physical and mental health risks of drug abuse, addiction and peer pressure, and urged to make healthy, responsible choices.
LED vehicle used to screen videos
The LED vehicle was used to screen awareness videos and display messages on the dangers of narcotic drugs and addictive substances. Students were also encouraged to carry the anti-drug message forward among their friends, families and communities.
Separately, Inspector (Awareness) Srinivas Rao conducted an anti-drug awareness programme for NCC cadets at the 1st Battalion NCC AP and Telangana Camp, held at Progress High School in Bandlaguda. Around 450 cadets and staff took part.
Cadets urged to become ‘anti-drug ambassadors’
The cadets were urged to maintain a disciplined lifestyle, stay away from drugs, and act as anti-drug ambassadors by promoting drug prevention among their peers.
EAGLE Force officials said prevention through awareness, early identification and community participation was essential to protect young people from drug abuse, and appealed to parents, teachers and the public to report information on drug trafficking, peddling, possession or consumption.
Such information can be shared with EAGLE on its toll-free number, 1908, or on WhatsApp at 87126 71111. Officials said the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
