WFM Pratitee Bordoloi took the sole lead in the Asian Junior Girls Classical Chess Championship after defeating WCM Aadya Gowda in the seventh round in Mumbai. Pratitee reached 6 points, half a point ahead of challengers Leyla and Prishita Gupta. In the Open Championship, GM-elect Mayank Chakraborty retained the lead with 6 points after a draw.
Mumbai: Top seed WFM Pratitee Bordoloi moved into the sole lead of the Asian Junior Girls Classical Chess Championship after defeating WCM Aadya Gowda in the seventh round at the ITC Maratha Sheraton in Mumbai on Monday.
The victory took Pratitee’s tally to 6 points from seven rounds, giving her a half-point advantage over her closest challengers.
WCM Shohradova Leyla of Turkmenistan, who was sharing the lead before the round, was held to a draw by Shivamshika G and slipped to second place with 5.5 points.
FM Prishita Gupta strengthened her title hopes after defeating WFM Nivedita V C to also reach 5.5 points, joining Leyla in the chasing group.
