Tezzbuzz Desk- Customers purchasing Samsung smartphones and tablets may soon face additional burden on their pockets. According to media reports, the company is preparing to increase the prices of many of its smartphones in India from September 2026. The new prices are likely to be implemented from the first week of September. However, no official announcement has been made yet by the company regarding the price increase.
In the reports, it is being said that Samsung's premium and foldable smartphones will be affected the most. Models like Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 already fall in the premium segment. There has been news of increase in their prices by about 8 to 20 percent. If there is such an increase, then to buy some models, customers may have to spend thousands of rupees more than the current price.
Not only expensive foldable phones, but Samsung's Galaxy A and Galaxy M series smartphones can also face the brunt of price rise. This means that it may also affect the company's budget and mid-range segment phone buyers. In such a situation, if a customer plans to buy a new Samsung phone, then purchasing before September can be a profitable deal for him, although it is necessary to wait for the official confirmation of the change in prices. Many reasons are being given behind the increase in the price of smartphones. The most important reason among these is the increasing price of memory chips. Due to the increase in the cost of memory like DRAM and NAND used in smartphones, it has become expensive for companies to produce devices. Apart from this, the weakness of rupee against dollar is also increasing the costs of companies. The cost of import components and other goods has a direct impact on the cost of production.
Samsung itself is among the world's leading memory chip manufacturing companies, but it is also facing pressure from rising costs. Till now, the company itself has borne a part of the cost increase, but considering the market situation, preparations can be made to pass on some part of it to the customers. This news has come at a time when India's budget smartphone market is already under pressure. The share of smartphones priced below Rs 15,000 is said to be decreasing. At the same time, some other companies have also increased the prices of their smartphones. Due to this, it may become more difficult for customers to buy affordable phones in the coming months than before.
On the other hand, demand for premium smartphones remains strong. After the launch of Samsung's new foldable phone, pre-booking of about 2.71 lakh units was reported in the first 72 hours. This indicates that customers are ready to pay higher prices for better features and premium design. The festive season will also start in India after September. Usually during this time smartphone companies give attractive discounts and offers. But if component prices remain high, then this time companies may have less scope to give big discounts. At present, Samsung has not confirmed the price increase. Therefore customers should wait for the official announcement.
