Joaquin Toscani scored the opening goal for Argentina before Nicolas Torre Della doubled their lead. Late in the first quarter, India managed to pull one back. It was a goalless second quarter, which meant that the Argentine team led after the first half.
In the 33rd minute, Tomas Domene scored for Argentina, doubling their lead. Domene scored again to put Argentina ahead by three goals. Lucas Toscani scored Argentina’s fifth goal. Sukhjeet Singh and Hardik Singh scored late in the final quarter but it was not enough to force even a draw let alone a win.
Hockey World Cup 2026: India Fails to Qualify For Semi-Finals
India were eliminated from the race to the Hockey World Cup 2026 semi-finals after conceding a 5-3 defeat to Argentina. Earlier, the Indian team had made it through their preliminary group despite a defeat against England. In Pool E, after qualifying from their preliminary group, India were defeated by the Netherlands. Following the loss against the hosts, Team India needed a big win against Argentina and would have needed the Dutch team to defeat England by a couple of goals as well.
