The issue of Maratha reservation in Maharashtra has heated up once again. Maratha activist Manoj Jarange-Patil is planning to launch another protest in Antaravali Sarati on August 29. Earlier today (August 24), a government delegation met Jarange-Patil. The delegation included Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, Minister Shambhuraj Desai and Minister Uday Samant.
After this meeting, Manoj Jarang Patil spoke to the media, clearly stating that he would not back down and that the protest would take place on 29 August.
What was the discussion between Manoj Jarange Patil and the delegation? Manoj Jarange Patil’s protest will start on August 29 in Antarwali Sarati. Presenting his demands before the government delegation, Jarange Patil demanded that the government issue certificates for all archives discovered by August 28. He said that the protest will not stop now and will definitely take place on August 29.
Implement decisions by August 28 – Manoj Jarange Patil
Manoj Jarange Patil demanded, “The decision to give equal facilities to the Maratha community as OBCs be implemented by August 28. The process of withdrawing the cases filed against the Maratha agitators should be completed. The issue of assistance and funds to the families of the brothers who sacrificed their lives during the agitation is also pending; it should be resolved.”
Jarange appealed to the people to reach Antarwali Sart
iJarange Patil also demanded that GRs to Satara, Pune, Bombay and Aundh gazetteers be completed. He appealed to those whose certificates or accreditation work is pending to reach Antarwali Sarti on August 28. It may be noted that social activist Manoj Jarange Patil went on an indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan in Mumbai last year demanding reservation for the Maratha community.
