Patna. A major step has been taken towards strengthening road connectivity in Bihar. The state cabinet has approved about 336 km long greenfield expressway between Buxar and Bhagalpur. The estimated cost of this project is said to be around Rs 3,700 crore. The process of preparing DPR has also progressed.

Expressway will pass through 13 districts

The proposed expressway will start from Buxar and reach Bhagalpur via Bhojpur, Arwal, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nalanda, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Jamui and Banka. That means a total of 13 districts will directly benefit from this. With the construction of this road, direct and fast movement between these districts will be possible.

The road will also be connected to Patna

Patna will not be directly on the route of the expressway, but Jehanabad will become the major connecting point for it. Four lane road is already available from Patna to Jehanabad. In such a situation, it will be easy to reach the expressway from here.

Connection to Purvanchal Expressway also

There is also a plan to connect this project to Purvanchal Expressway in Uttar Pradesh. This can provide better road connectivity to the respective districts of Bihar towards UP and further towards Delhi. Trade, transport and mobility are expected to benefit from this.

Construction will be done on PPP model

The construction of Buxar-Bhagalpur Expressway is proposed on PPP model. In this, the private company will invest and build the road and the cost of the project will be compensated through toll collection from vehicles. The construction of the expressway is expected to further strengthen the road connectivity between the southern and eastern parts of Bihar.
