Malaysia National Day Flypast To Affect KLIA Flights Due To Temporary Airspace Closures

Malaysia’s aviation authority has announced temporary airspace closures in the Kuala Lumpur Terminal Control Area for the National Day Flypast 2026. Malaysia Airlines said selected KLIA flights will be rescheduled due to the restrictions. Passengers have been advised to check flight status and arrive four hours early during the August 26-September 6 peak travel period.

Kuala Lumpur [Malaysia], August 24: In conjunction with Malaysia's 69th National Day celebrations, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has announced temporary airspace closures within the Kuala Lumpur Terminal Control Area to facilitate the National Day Flypast 2026.

Flight schedule changes

According to Malaysia Airlines, these closures will result in the retiming of selected Malaysia Airlines flights arriving at and departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1.

Affected passengers will be notified via their registered contact details and are encouraged to check their latest flight status on the Malaysia Airlines website or mobile app before travelling to the airport.
