Great news has emerged for farmers ahead of the 24th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM Kisan Yojana). Just before the arrival of the central government's Samman Nidhi funds, the Maharashtra government has provided a major financial boost to farmers by releasing the second installment of its much-discussed farm loan waiver scheme.

**6.36 Lakh Farmers Debt-Free**
On Monday, the state government completely waived agricultural loans totaling ₹5,086 crore for 6.36 lakh (6,36,036) eligible farmers under the 'Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana'. This assistance was disbursed directly via online channels during an event held in Mumbai, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

This second installment has reached farmers just three weeks after the first installment was released in early August.

**Target to Benefit 56 Lakh Farmers**
The Mahayuti government has allocated a massive budget of ₹36,000 crore for this mega loan waiver scheme. The state cabinet had approved it in June of this year. The government estimates that over 56 lakh farmers in Maharashtra will directly benefit from this scheme.

CM Fadnavis stated that:

With this latest installment, a total of 12,58,243 farmers have so far received the benefit of loan waivers amounting to ₹10,115 crore. The process of extending benefits to farmers is ongoing, and the list of beneficiaries is being updated periodically. So far, Aadhaar authentication has been completed for 13.70 lakh loan accounts.

How much funding did each division receive?
The second installment has been distributed across the state's six major revenue divisions.

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: This division led the way, with ₹2,284 crore transferred to the accounts of 3,02,273 farmers.
Amravati: 1,45,808 farmers received benefits amounting to ₹1,208 crore.
Nashik: Loans worth ₹756 crore were waived for 84,813 farmers.
Pune: 49,224 farmers received relief totaling ₹417 crore.
Nagpur: 44,864 farmers received ₹366 crore.
Konkan: Loans worth ₹54 crore were waived for 9,054 farmers.
Overall, amidst the wait for the 24th installment of PM-Kisan, this loan waiver by the state government has brought significant financial relief to the farmers.
