Kia Sorento: Automobile Desk. When it comes to the premium full-size SUV segment in the Indian automobile market, the first name that comes to mind is Toyota Fortuner. South Korean automobile manufacturer Kia now seems fully prepared to compete with Fortuner, which has been ruling this segment for a long time. The company will officially launch its flagship and powerful 7-seater SUV Kia Sorento in the Indian market on September 4, 2026. As the launch date approaches, the curiosity about this vehicle has increased significantly among customers and auto lovers.

Recently, just before its launch, this new SUV was seen testing on Indian roads without any camouflage i.e. without any cover. Through a video going viral on social media, almost the complete picture of its looks and exterior design has become clear. According to media reports, the manufacturing of this vehicle has started at Kia's Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh and the model seen during testing has also been spotted around the same area. Due to it being visible without any camouflage, every small and big design elements of the vehicle are clearly exposed.

Kia Sorento: Aggressive and premium design language

In terms of design, the Kia Sorento has been given a very muscular and wide look, which gives it a great presence on the road. Talking about its front profile, Kia's signature 'Tiger Nose' grille is seen here, on which 3D pattern and aluminum finish has been used. The front part of the vehicle has vertically styled LED headlamps and Kia's latest star-map LED 3D DRLs, which give it a distinct identity at night.

If we look at the side profile, boxy shape, high wheel arches and roof rails have been used in it. The vehicle has been provided with large 19-inch dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, which further enhance its spotty character. The rear is also quite attractive, where features like vertical LED taillights, wide bumper and automatic tailgate are present. In terms of overall body cut and size, this SUV presents an imposing look on the road.

Kia Sorento: Option of hybrid and powerful diesel engine

Kia Sorento is going to give two big options to Indian customers on the engine and performance front. The company will offer it with both petrol-hybrid and diesel powertrains.

Strong Hybrid Model:The biggest main attraction of this SUV will be its hybrid variant. This could be Kia's first all-wheel drive (AWD) strong hybrid car in India. A combination of an electric motor with a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine can be seen in it. This setup will be able to generate a total power of about 238 hp and torque of 380 Nm, which will give excellent mileage along with power.

Diesel Model: For those customers who are fond of heavy torque and long distance travel, the company can offer the option of 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine. This engine can produce around 202 bhp of maximum power and 440 Nm of peak torque. The same reliable engine is also used in Kia's luxury car Carnival.

Interior and Hi-tech Features

Although only the exterior of the vehicle is visible in the viral video, but based on the model sold in the global market, it is certain that the cabin of the Indian Sorento will be made very premium and tech-loaded. It can have a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup (infotainment and digital driver display), panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered seats, 360-degree camera and premium sound system from Bose. In terms of safety, safety features like Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS Level-2), multiple airbags and all-wheel disc brakes can be provided as standard.
