Traveling by flight for the first time can be exciting but also a little nerve-wracking. The airport's huge buildings, check-in counters, security checks and procedures like boarding gates can be confusing for first-time travelers. But if you know in advance what to do after reaching the airport, then the entire journey becomes much easier. Let us know which steps you should follow after reaching the airport.
Keep important documents with you
As soon as you reach the airport, first of all keep your ticket or e-ticket and valid identity card with you. If you have not checked-in online, visit your airline's check-in counter or self-check-in kiosk. By looking at the flight number and airline on the airport screen, information about the counter can be easily found.
Deposit luggage and check-in
If you have check-in baggage, it will have to be deposited at the airline counter. There your luggage will be weighed and after applying the baggage tag you will be given a boarding pass.
Whereas, if you have only hand baggage and have already done online check-in, then in some cases you can go directly for security check. However, this process may differ according to the rules of the airline and airport.
After this there will be security check
After completing check-in, you will have to go through security check. Here you may have to show boarding pass and identity card. During examination, you may be asked to keep laptop, mobile or other electronic items in a separate tray. Apart from this, some things kept in belt, jacket and pockets may also have to be removed.
Before going to the airport, be sure to check the rules of your airline to baggage and prohibited items.
Know the boarding gate
After security check, check your boarding gate number. This information can be found on the boarding pass as well as on the display screen of the airport. Keep in mind that sometimes the boarding gate can be changed. Therefore, keep checking your flight status and gate information on the screen from time to time.
No need to be nervous on the first flight
If you are traveling by flight for the first time, there is no need to panic. If you do not understand any step, you can ask for help from the airline or airport staff. Also, it is better to reach the airport much before the scheduled time of the flight. Be sure to keep in mind the reporting time given by the airline for domestic and international flights.
