Till now, the Indian and global markets have been dominated by heavy duty diesel-powered tractors, due to which farmers have to spend heavily on fuel. However, due to continuous changes in technology, such options are now emerging in the market which, along with being pollution free, also almost eliminate fuel expenses. In this sequence, American tech company Gosan has introduced a new all-electric solar tractor, which has been named Moonrider 27. This tractor has the ability to work at a very low cost compared to traditional diesel vehicles.

The biggest feature of this new Solar Tractor is its charging system. It has specially installed foldable solar panels, which can be removed or added as per need. When this tractor is standing in the sun or is doing plowing work in the field, its solar panels keep charging the battery by continuously drawing energy from sunlight. Because of this, the farmer does not need to connect it to the electric socket again and again. Without being dependent on grid power, this machine is capable of working for long periods of time with the help of sunlight.

Talking about performance, it has a lithium ion phosphate battery of 24 Kw/h capacity, which produces a power of 27 horsepower. It comes with four-wheel drive technology, so that it can be easily driven even in rough and muddy fields. Due to the electric motor provided in it, the driver gets instant torque, which makes it easy to pull heavy weight or plow on hard ground. The company claims that once fully charged, it can work continuously for about 5 hours without stopping. If it is charged with a 220 volt AC charger, its battery gets filled up to 80% in just two and a half hours.

Keeping in mind the small and medium sized farms, the design of this tractor has been kept quite practical. Its weight is approximately 1095 kg and it has a ground clearance of 270 mm. Its turning radius has been kept at just 1.4 meters for easy turning in narrow places and on the ridges of fields. Apart from this, due to the absence of a diesel engine, it neither emits smoke nor makes loud noise, which keeps the environment and the health of both the farmers safe.

Another useful aspect of this machine is that it is not limited to farming only. With the help of the power outlet provided in it, it can be used as a power bank on the go. In case of power outage, farmers can easily run water pumps, cutters or other power equipment with its battery backup.

In terms of price, it has been introduced in the global market at around $19,995. The company has started its booking process and it will be displayed in the agricultural fair to be held in Iowa. Its direct delivery to the customers in the market is expected to start from the year 2027.
