21 prominent personalities have written letters to the Pakistan government and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in support of Imran Khan. In the letter, a demand was made to provide better medical facilities and humanitarian conditions to Imran. However, this letter did not have the signature of any current or former cricketer of Pakistan. After this, questions have started being raised regarding the silence of the country’s cricketers.
Indian veterans also raised their voice
This appeal has been signed by many stalwarts including former Indian cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar and Kapil Dev. He demanded to provide proper treatment and humane conditions to Imran Khan. Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered to take Imran to a private hospital in Islamabad and get him examined by a team of special doctors.
Pakistan was made world champion in 1992
The Supreme Court had also directed to restore Imran Khan’s weekly family meetings. He was taken to the hospital, but after a brief investigation he was sent back to jail. Imran made Pakistan win the ODI World Cup for the first time in 1992 and is among the most popular cricketers of the country. He is in jail since 2023 due to several legal cases. His supporters have continued to raise concerns about his treatment and condition, while the Pakistani government has denied allegations of any ill-treatment.
