The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai on September 18, secretary Devajit Saikia said today. The board has also informed all the 38 state associations about the meeting.

“The AGM will be held on September 18,” Saikia told PTI, adding that one of the agenda items is the proposal seeking to grant associate membership to the cricket association of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The BCCI Apex Council last month discussed the issue, after which this decision was taken. Associate members of the BCCI do not have voting rights.

IPL Governing Council Elections to Take Center Stage in BCCI meeting

The AGM will also witness election for two posts of the IPL Governing Council, including that of the chairman, currently held by Arun Dhumal. BCCI Electoral Officer AK Joti issued the election notification on Tuesday, calling upon full members to nominate their representatives for inclusion in the electoral rolls for the 2026 BCCI election.

As per the notification, the election for two elective posts of members of the IPL Governing Council will be made in accordance with Rule 28 of the Constitution.

The full members will have to apply on or before 31 August, and the list of validly nominated candidates will be out on 11 September. The election for two posts is expected to be uncontested.

The new Indian Cricketers Association representative in the IPL Governing Council is also expected to be elected at the meeting, the agenda for which was sent out to the state associations by the BCCI.

The appointment of the BCCI Ombudsman and Ethics Officer also figures in the agenda of the September 18 meeting, which also means there are several other crucial administrative matters up for discussion besides the changes proposed in the IPL Governing Council.
