Cases of cyber fraud are rising rapidly across the country. However, did you know that you can file a complaint about cyber fraud with just a single phone call? Doing so significantly increases the chances of recovering your money after a fraud incident. Here are two methods you can use to report cyber fraud immediately.

**Call 1930 immediately after the money is debited**
If money has been fraudulently withdrawn from your bank account, the first step is to call the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930. Once a complaint is registered on this helpline, the process to freeze the transaction can be initiated. After the call, you will receive a reference number via SMS; this number may be required when filing an online complaint. The most crucial point is to call 1930 immediately after the money is lost. Any delay could allow the funds to be transferred elsewhere, making recovery difficult.

**How to file an online complaint?**
After calling 1930, you can file a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. To do this, select the "File a Complaint" option on the portal and register using your mobile number. Next, select the "Financial Fraud" category. Then, fill in essential details such as the time of the fraud, the amount lost, and the method used by the fraudsters. Once the complaint is filed, you will receive a Complaint ID; keep this safe, as you can use it to track the status of your complaint.

**Keep these documents ready when filing a complaint**
You should have certain documents ready when filing a complaint to ensure the process is quick and smooth. It is essential to have the bank statement for the account involved in the fraud, with the fraudulent transaction clearly visible. Additionally, keep screenshots of any messages or suspicious links. If the fraud occurred via UPI, having the UPI transaction ID or reference number is also necessary. You may also keep your Aadhaar number handy for verification purposes. Additionally, a mobile number linked to the bank account is required.

How to check the complaint status:
After filing a complaint online, you can check its status using the 'Track Your Complaint' option on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. You will need the acknowledgement number received at the time of filing the complaint for this purpose. The portal also allows you to see which agency is currently handling the complaint.
