Chasing 287 on this dust bowl wicket was always going to be tough for West Zone. It lost three early wickets and North Zone looked in command to get the win in time. But the game really turned on its head courtesy of that partnership between Gaikwad and Musheer. West needed less than 100 to win and had seven wickets in hand.

However, both batters falling quickly gave North Zone a look in. And Kanhaiya Wadhawan marshalled his resources to great effect to tighten the noose around West. It could have easily lost the momentum on the final morning, but Wadhawan kept Sindhu and Mushtaq on to keep the pressure on West. A few questionable shots too from Urvil and Deshpande but that was just a brief phase of their team’s capitulation that had already begun on day three.
