We are now into the final week of the transfer window, but several big moves could still be completed before the deadline.

One of the biggest stories of the summer has been Julian Alvarez's future at Atletico Madrid, and after what happened over the weekend, his position at the club appears increasingly difficult.

Alvarez was whistled and jeered during his return for Atletico against Villarreal, and the Argentina forward also had toy rats, scarves and shirts thrown towards him as he made his way down the tunnel after full-time.

Alvarez has made it clear that he wants to leave Atletico Madrid for Barcelona, but Diego Simeone's side are not willing to sell to a direct La Liga rival. Arsenal are monitoring the situation closely and could make a potential British record bid if Alvarez signals that he is ready to return to England in order to get away from the unrest surrounding him at Atleti.

Paris Saint-Germain are expecting Bradley Barcola to leave before the transfer deadline, though they have stayed firm on their asking price for the winger. The European champions want £145m for Barcola, a record-breaking figure that Liverpool have so far been unwilling to meet.

Barcola has already given the green light to a Premier League move as he looks for a bigger role, having been competing with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue for game time in Paris. It is expected that a compromise over the valuation will be reached before the deadline.

Manchester City are getting ready to submit a bid for Enzo Fernandez in the next few days as the Cityzens look to bring in a marquee midfielder to replace Rodri.

Chelsea had earlier agreed to allow Fernandez to leave if any club matched their £120m asking price, but the deadline set by the Blues for such a deal has now passed.

City, though, are still keen to push ahead and try to complete an agreement to strengthen their reduced midfield options. If it happens, it would be another club-record fee for City, who already broke their transfer record earlier this summer for Elliot Anderson.

Cody Gakpo has become the subject of a transfer battle, with Tottenham Hotspur keen to sign the Liverpool winger. Manchester City are also interested in Gakpo, although they have not yet made a direct move.

Liverpool are happy to keep Gakpo, but they will approve his sale if a major offer comes in. With the Reds concentrating on a move for the previously mentioned Bradley Barcola, Gakpo could end up being one of the consequences of that chase.
