AC Power Saving Tips: In the heat of summer, the use of air conditioners increases the light bill also increases rapidly. A new discussion has started on social media about whether the electricity bill can be significantly reduced by increasing the AC temperature a little. Content creator Pooja, citing her experience, claims that she increased the AC temperature from 22 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees, after which her monthly electricity bill came down from around Rs 3,500 to Rs 1,292.
According to Pooja, he ran the AC for about five to seven hours a day during both the periods. When the AC was kept at 22 degrees, the electricity bill came to around Rs 3,500 for about two months. He then set the AC temperature to 28 degrees Celsius and the next bill came to Rs.1,292 as per his claim. In this way, about Rs.2,208 was saved in a month. If the same savings are maintained throughout the year, the annual savings can reach around Rs.26,500. However this calculation is only based on his personal experience.
It took more time to cool down the room at 28 degrees
According to Pooja, initially running the AC at 28 degrees, the room took a little longer to cool down. However, after a while the room temperature started to feel comfortable. It also advises to clean AC filters regularly. A dirty filter can reduce airflow and cause the AC to work harder to cool the room.
Not necessarily every household will save 60%
Pooja also clarified that the savings in electricity bills will not be the same for everyone. Factors like room size, home insulation system, outside temperature, AC star rating, inverter technology, machine condition and daily usage time affect power consumption. So it is not right to conclude that 60 percent electricity will be saved in every house than only AC temperature of 22 to 28 degrees.
A discussion started on social media
After this experience went viral, users on social media are discussing what should be the right AC temperature and how to save electricity. Generally increasing the set temperature of the AC can reduce the cooling load on the compressor, potentially reducing electricity consumption, but the exact savings will depend on the condition of the home and the AC.
