Let us tell you, according to local media reports, in about 80 percent of the cases of men undergoing DNA test on suspicion of infidelity, the suspicions of men have turned out to be correct. That is, the investigation revealed that the child was not the biological child of the man whom he was considering as his father.
However, one important thing should be kept in mind while understanding this figure. 80 percent does not mean that 80 percent of Malawian men do not have children. This figure is only for those people who have undergone DNA test after having prior suspicion. In such cases there is already suspicion, so the results can be high.
Such cases are coming every month
According to the report, genetics scientist Kingdom Kwapata sees more than 30 paternity- cases every month. He says that among men who have doubts about their partners, their suspicions are proven correct in about 80 percent of the cases. In many cases, men become suspicious due to WhatsApp chat or some other information. After this they come to get the child’s DNA test done. Philip Mwanza, head of another DNA clinic in Malawi, has also said that in about 80 percent of the cases, the child is not the biological father.
But when paternity testing is done on a court order, the picture looks quite different. According to Kingdom Kwapata, in such cases, about 90 percent of men prove to be the biological father of the child. This shows that data from tests already conducted on suspicion and data from court cases cannot be considered the same.
It has a deep impact on families
After the DNA report comes out, disputes to relationship breakdown, divorce, responsibility of children and property may arise in many families. Such cases also have an emotional impact on children and other family members. The cost of a paternity DNA test in Malawi is said to be around 4 lakh kwacha. Despite this, the demand for such investigation is increasing among the people.
