During an appearance on the Dream with Dr Sheen podcast, Nora recalled how quickly the controversy escalated while she was busy with a shoot.

She said, "I already know who hired you, when, and how much they paid you. That was an opportunity well squeezed by whoever was behind that. Because of the whole feminism thing, I was already prepared for how my body would react to that. I wasn't panicking, I was not in fear. I was shooting for three days - I didn't know, and then all hell broke loose."

"I still wasn't given any grace. I explained myself. I told the truth. I said I don't know where it came from. I didn't shoot for this song. I gave all the details. I am the most articulate person out there,’ she added.

She also pointed out that the version of the track that eventually became controversial had not been presented to her in its final form. Nora said she had only seen snippets and AI-generated images online and did not know what the eventual Hindi version would look or sound like.

"But there were people in the comments who said, 'She's lying. How could she have not known, for a song that was not released?' By the way, the full song was not released. It was just snippets - some clips and AI photos. Songs like these get produced every day. It is what it is. I am not saying that this is good," she said.

Nora Fatehi recalls why she agreed to shoot the song

The controversy dates back to March, when the Hindi version of ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ triggered criticism over its lyrics and visuals. The track featured Nora alongside Sanjay Dutt and was originally part of the Kannada film KD: The Devil.

Nora had previously addressed the issue on Instagram, explaining that she had shot the original song years ago and did not understand Kannada. She said she agreed to be part of it because of the film and the opportunity to work with Sanjay Dutt.

"When I shot this song, I said yes to it because it was part of a big film and also alongside Sanjay Dutt, who would say no to it. It was a remake of what I thought was 'Nayak Nahi Khalnayak Hoon Main.' When they translated this song, nothing seemed inappropriate or vulgar to me, but I do not understand Kannada, so I rely on whatever they say to me. Whatever they have done right now, dubbing it in Hindi and the lyrics, they did not take any permission or approval from me. I had no idea about it," she had said.

Nora later clarified that she did not approve or promote the Hindi adaptation. As the backlash intensified, she said she told the director that she did not agree with what had been done and that her public image was at stake.

The controversy eventually escalated beyond social media. The All India Cine Workers Association had called for a ban on the song, while Nora appeared before the National Commission for Women for a hearing on May 7. The song was subsequently removed.

What is KD: The Devil about?

KD: The Devil is a period action drama directed by Prem and backed by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions. The film stars Dhruva Sarja in the lead, with Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah and V Ravichandran in supporting roles. The film hit theatres on April 30.

Nora Fatehi’s work front

She performed on the global stage at the FIFA World Cup opening in June 2026 and was also part of Siir Siir, the official FIFA 2026 song, alongside Sanjoy and Vegedream. She is now preparing to release Slay to the Rhythm, a track from her upcoming EP Play. Nora has also previously collaborated with Badshah on Sajan Re.

On the acting front, she is set to feature in a special dance number in Jailer 2, starring Rajinikanth, with Anirudh Ravichander composing the music.
