Mumbai: Indian stock markets opened with gains on Wednesday amid sharp fall in crude oil prices in the international market and positive trend in global stock markets. In early trade, BSE Sensex jumped 285 points to 77,944.02, while NSE Nifty rose 23.25 points to 24,356.10.
The domestic market was also supported by inflow of foreign capital. On Tuesday, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) had made net purchases of Rs 1,593.53 crore in the Indian stock market.
Rise in these stocks including ICICI Bank and SBI
Among the 30 companies included in the Sensex, shares of ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Eternal, Bajaj Finserv and Asian Paints gained the most. At the same time, shares of Infosys, Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro and Bharat Electronics declined.
Asian markets also on the rise
In Asian markets, South Korea's Kospi, Japan's Nikkei 225, China's SSE Composite and Hong Kong's Hang Seng are trading with gains. American markets closed with gains on Tuesday.
Brent crude slipped 2.66 percent
The futures price of international oil standard Brent crude oil fell by 2.66 percent to $ 86.22 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors bought shares worth a net Rs 1,593.53 crore on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Sensex closed with a gain of 286.98 points and Nifty with a gain of 115.50 points.
