Manchester City have confirmed the signing of Morocco international Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille on a five-year contract.

Bouaddi has joined City in a total deal worth £85.6 million, making him the most expensive teenager in Premier League history.

The 18-year-old becomes Man City’s second major signing of the summer after the arrival of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

The Morocco international came through the Lille academy. He made his senior debut in 2023 and became the youngest player ever to appear in a European club competition.

Bouaddi has been a regular starter for Lille across the past two seasons, establishing himself as one of Europe’s finest young midfielders.

He represented France at youth level before changing his international allegiance to Morocco. He was a regular presence for the Atlas Lions at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Bouaddi is a technically accomplished midfielder who is calm in possession, strong at carrying the ball, intelligent with his movement and reliable defensively.

The Lille academy graduate is thrilled to join Man City and is hoping to continue his development under manager Enzo Maresca.

Bouaddi arrives with enormous expectations, with many seeing him as a possible long-term replacement for Rodri.

The Spain international departed for Barcelona earlier this month after an impressive seven-year stay at the club.

City will be hoping Bouaddi lives up to his potential and grows into a fitting successor to Rodri.
