Nepal Flood Updates: The sudden flood that occurred near the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday morning caused huge devastation. The biggest impact was seen in Rasuwa district of Nepal, where houses, roads, bridges and electricity projects were washed away due to sudden rise in water in Bhotekoshi river. Water suddenly came from Tibet

Apart from Rasuwa, the impact of flood also reached nearby Nuwakot and Dhading districts. Roads and connectivity routes were damaged in many areas, making relief and rescue operations difficult.

Relief and rescue operations continue

Teams of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces are engaged in relief and rescue operations. The campaign is facing problems due to bad weather and broken roads at many places. Efforts are also being made to provide monitoring and relief through helicopters.

After the disappearance of citizens of many countries including India, the concerned agencies are busy gathering information about them. Helpline and contact arrangements have also been started for the families of Indian citizens.

He has asked the officials to complete the necessary preparations in advance. Instructions have been given to make immediate relief and rescue arrangements in case of flood situation in low-lying areas.

NDRF teams deployed in Bihar

In Bihar also, the water level of Kosi and Gandak rivers is being continuously monitored. Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has discussed the situation with Union Home Minister Amit Shah over phone. The administration has been alerted in sensitive areas of the state.

NDRF teams have been sent to six districts of Bihar. In view of the possibility of rising water in Kosi and Gandak basins, relief and rescue preparations have been intensified.

Damage in Timure market and border area

The water in Bhotekoshi river suddenly increased on Wednesday morning. The strong current caused heavy damage in the customs area of ​​Timure Bazaar and Rasuwa border crossing. Many vehicles were washed away in water. 13 hydropower projects have also been affected by the floods. At many places, roads leading to dams, power houses and projects have been damaged. Rescue operations are being carried out continuously in the affected areas.

384 passengers and tourists missing

According to initial records received from tourism and travel companies, 384 passengers have been reported missing. Of these, 291 are foreign nationals and 93 are Nepali citizens.

31 people missing from Kailash Yatra

A total of 31 passengers associated with Kailash Journey are reported missing. Of these, 26 are foreign nationals, whose nationality has not been confirmed yet. Five Nepali citizens are also reported missing.

Tourism boards, tourist police, local administration and security agencies are gathering information about the missing people. Search operations are being conducted in the affected areas with the help of trekking guides.

25 people were evacuated safely

According to Nepal Army spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet, 25 people have been safely evacuated from the affected areas like Busi and Tusu. 15 helicopters have been deployed in relief and rescue operations.

Of these, seven are from Nepali Army and eight from other agencies. A medical center has been built in the fish training camp. The injured are being treated here. Rescue teams along with medical teams are also deployed in the affected areas.

13 hydropower projects affected

13 hydropower projects of Nepal have been damaged due to the strong flood flow. Dams, powerhouses and access roads of many projects have been affected. Many vehicles parked in Timure market and border area were also washed away in the water.

The actual assessment of the damage will be done after ground investigation. In view of the threat of flood, Kathmandu Traffic Police has stopped the movement of vehicles going to Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Chitwan and Dhading.

SSB alert on India-Nepal border

After the floods in Nepal, security and relief arrangements have also been increased on the India-Nepal border. SSB has kept 11 rescue and relief teams ready. Seven additional teams are on standby. Monitoring is being done in view of the possibility of rising water in Kosi and Narayani river basins.

Along with North and East Bihar, sensitive areas to Ghaghra-Karnali river system in Uttar Pradesh and Mahakali river system in Uttarakhand are also being monitored. SSB battalions deployed on the border have been instructed to remain in touch with the local administration. If needed, these teams will be deployed in relief and rescue operations.
