Two prisoners have appeared in court accused of attempting to murder Urfan Sharif, who is serving a life sentence for the killing of his 10-year-old daughter, Sara Sharif.
Steven Sansom and Adam Watson were charged earlier this month over an alleged attack on Sharif at Belmarsh Prison on January 1, 2025.
Sara was tortured and killed at her family home in Woking, Surrey.
According to the charge sheet, the weapon allegedly used during the assault was a bent tin lid.
Urfan reportedly sustained injuries on his face, mouth and neck.
Prosecutor Jack Wadsworth alleged that Adam, who is 39, repeatedly punched the jailed father during what he described as a coordinated attack.
Wadsworth further alleged that Steven, who is 47, then grabbed Sharif by the neck and applied sustained pressure to his throat.
Urfan was prisoned after his daughter’s dead body was found at the family home in Woking in August 2023.
She had been beaten, burned and hooded before her death.
Urfan was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 40 years for murder. His wife and Sara’s stepmother, Beinash Batool, received a life sentence with a minimum term of 33 years.
