Brighton will head to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

As per The Argus, United are one of eight seeded teams in the draw because of their involvement in either the Champions League or the Europa League.

Albion were handed away ties against Arsenal, United and Liverpool in the domestic cup competitions last season.

Before those matches, they had also travelled to Oxford and Barnsley, which means this is their sixth consecutive away draw since they last played a home cup tie against Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals of the 2024-25 FA Cup.

A midweek away trip is unlikely to generate much excitement among Albion supporters, who are now waiting for the fixture schedule and ticket information.

Because of Champions League scheduling, the match has to be played in the week beginning 14 September. With Albion due to visit Coventry on 13 September, a Wednesday night fixture looks the most likely option for the Seagulls.

The cup tie comes immediately before Brighton's home Premier League clash with Arsenal, a match that has been set aside to mark the club's 125th anniversary.

In another notable tie from the draw, Liverpool have been paired with Tottenham, in a game that could see Andrew Robertson return straight to Anfield following his summer move to Spurs.
