Club Brugge appear to have softened their stand over striker Nicolo Tresoldi, with clubs such as Manchester United continuing to watch the situation closely.
With fewer than seven days remaining before the summer transfer window shuts, there is still a possibility that United could enter the market for a striker. Much will depend on what unfolds with Joshua Zirkzee.
Speculation over Zirkzee’s future is yet to die down, with a return to Serie A now looking like a real option. Juventus, Napoli and Fiorentina have all been linked with the striker.
Aston Villa are also understood to have made an enquiry for the Dutchman, who was left out by Michael Carrick last weekend as United slumped to a 2-0 opening-day defeat to Premier League new boys Hull City.
If Zirkzee does depart, United would be forced to bring in a replacement, and Tresoldi is believed to be one of the names on their shortlist. The forward enjoyed an impressive campaign with Brugge last season and has carried that form into the new one, scoring in each of his four competitive appearances for the club so far this term.
AS Roma submitted an offer for him a few weeks ago, but it was swiftly rejected by Brugge. The Belgian club had strongly dismissed any suggestion of a sale, maintaining that Tresoldi was not for sale at any price.
But it has now been reported that they have in fact placed a valuation on the German forward as interest in him continues to grow.
According to Sport, via Bulinews, Brugge would be prepared to approve Tresoldi’s departure for a fee of around €50m.
A move away remains possible, but only if a club matches that valuation. Roma’s rejected proposal was worth €35m.
Alongside United and Roma, the other clubs monitoring the 22-year-old are Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
Barcelona appear to be the club most likely to intensify their pursuit of Tresoldi, particularly with their hopes of signing Julian Alvarez now hanging by a thread.
Meanwhile, United return to action on Sunday when they welcome Ipswich Town to Old Trafford.
