Hollywood veteran actor and singer Tim Curry has died at the age of 80. Tim Curry, who made a place in the hearts of audiences around the world by playing the memorable character of ‘Dr. Frank N Furter’ in ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’, breathed his last at his Los Angeles home. His longtime manager Marcia Hurwitz officially confirmed the actor’s death while speaking with Variety magazine.

The actor was struggling with health problems for a long time

Tim Curry died at his private home in Toluca Lake. Although the exact medical reasons for his demise have not been revealed, but according to reports he was suffering from serious illnesses for the last several years. In 2012, Tim Curry suffered a major stroke, after which his health continued to deteriorate and he had to resort to a wheelchair. Despite this, he did not distance himself from his work and remained active in voice-over projects.

The most historic turning point in Tim Curry’s career came in 1973, when he played the role of ‘Dr Frank N Furter’ in a London theater show. When the film ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ was made based on this play in 1975, Tim Curry revived the character on the big screen. The film did not perform as expected at the box office at the time of its release, but over time it became one of Hollywood’s biggest cult classic films.

Tim Curry preferred negative and complex roles in his career. He worked in hit films like ‘The Shout’, ‘Times Square’, ‘Annie’, ‘Legend’, ‘Clue’, and ‘The Player’. Apart from cinema, his contribution to the world of theater was also incomparable, for which he received the nomination of the prestigious Tony Awards three times in his career. The documentary-drama ‘Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror’, released in 2025, proved to be his last on-screen project.
