Raipur: The controversy regarding the examinations of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University (IGKV) in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, is not showing any signs of stopping. After the cancellation of the first two question papers, now the case of alleged leak of the third paper has come to light. The university has canceled the examination of 'Fundamentals of Genetics' and handed over the investigation of the matter to the police.

The university has demanded an investigation from Telibandha police station into the alleged leak of another question paper of B.Sc. Agriculture. According to officials, the university has sent a letter to the police station in-charge requesting to examine the APB (Fundamentals of Genetics) paper. This examination was conducted on 19 August in 28 agricultural colleges. Opposition parties including Congress were already raising questions regarding the allegations of leak of the third question paper. After this the university decided to cancel the examination.

What was said in the university's complaint?

According to IGKV's complaint, a journalist of a national Hindi daily had sent a PDF on WhatsApp to the information and public relations officer of the university. It included alleged questions and answers from 'Fundamentals of Genetics'. The university formed a committee of five members for the preliminary investigation of the matter. The committee also examined the envelopes in which the question papers were sent to the respective agricultural colleges and returned to the university after the examination. The university says that prima facie there are signs of tampering with some of the envelopes. These included an envelope containing the genetics question paper.

Important evidence handed over to the police

The university has handed over many documents to the case to the police. These include copies of the news published in the newspaper, PDF containing the alleged leaked question paper and answers, the original question paper and the report of the five-member committee. Telibandha police station has confirmed receiving the complaint and has started investigating the matter. According to the university, the signs of tampering found in the envelopes are similar to the signs revealed in the investigation of the previous question paper leak case.

Two papers have already been canceled

This is said to be the third case of paper leak in IGKV. Earlier, the examination of 'Entomology' subject of B.Sc Agriculture second year was cancelled. In this case, a professor and five students of a private college in Durg district were arrested on August 22. After this, on August 24, the examination of 'Plant Pathology' subject of first year B.Sc. Agriculture, held on August 7, was also cancelled. The university had taken this step after the police investigation confirmed the paper leak.
