India took a strong hold on the second test by all out Sri Lanka for 290 runs.

New Delhi, 27 August 2026: In cricket, India have strengthened their hold on the second and final Test match against Sri Lanka by all out Sri Lanka on a low score in the first innings and forcing them to 'follow-on'. By the end of the fourth day's play yesterday, Sri Lanka had scored 229 runs for the loss of six wickets. Sri Lanka's Pasindu Suriyabandara had scored 92 runs. India made a brilliant comeback in the final session by taking three wickets and preventing Sri Lanka from reaching a big score.

India will try to wrap up Sri Lanka's innings early on the fifth and final day and achieve the set target. However, even today rain can spoil the game. The game will start at 9:45 am.

Earlier, after bowling out Sri Lanka for 290 runs, India had given them 'follow-on'. Prasidhan Krishna and Manav Suthar took three wickets each, while Saransh Jain took two wickets. With the help of centuries from Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal, India declared its first innings at 503 runs.

India is leading 1-0 in the series. It is very important for India to win this match to secure a place in the final of the 2025-27 World Test Championship. Currently Australia is in the top position.
