Apart from Rakshabandhan, there will be bank holidays in different cities due to some other religious occasions.

Banks closed in these cities on 28th August

According to the RBI holiday list, bank branches in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Dehradun, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Raipur, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed on August 28 due to Rakshabandhan.

Customers living in these cities should check the date of the next working day before visiting the branch for important bank work. The holiday of 28th August is not just because of Rakshabandhan. Banks will also remain closed at some places due to Pang Lhabsol, Shri Narayana Guru Jayanti and Ayyankali Jayanti.

Banks will remain open in Delhi-Mumbai

Despite Rakshabandhan, banks will not remain closed in Delhi and Mumbai on 28th August. Bank branches here will remain open normally. That means customers of these cities can go to the branch for banking work. However, there may be different arrangements in the operation of a bank branch at the local level, hence in case of urgent work, it would be better to get information from the concerned bank.

These services will run even if the bank is closed

Despite branches being closed on bank holidays, most digital banking services remain operational. Customers can perform many important banking tasks through UPI, Mobile Banking, Net Banking and ATM. Facilities like sending money, checking account balance, making online payments and withdrawing cash from ATM are generally available through UPI. However, some banking services may require a branch visit.

Therefore, just by looking at the name of the festival, it is not right to assume that banks will remain closed in the entire country.
